چکیده

Abstract Lubricant-infused textured surfaces have gained much attention as liquid-repellent owing to high surface stability compared their superhydrophobic counterparts. In this study, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) micro-structures (width: 20 μ m, height: 80 m), were fabricated using soft lithography. Effects of micro-structural geometry, including pillar-type (pillar, discrete ridge) and hole-type (hole, continuous ridge, circular rings with eight stripe supporters), on infiltration capability the lubricants different viscosity (Krytox-103; η : 0.131 Pa.s, Krytox-105; 0.737 paraffin oil; 0.112 Pa.s) investigated. Partial was observed micro-structures, while more completed obtained micro-structures. More viscous Krytox-105 resulted in for all thus creating a slippery liquid-infused porous (SLIPS). The best SLIPS, signified by low sliding angle fast speed water droplet, prepared from hole pattern infused exhibited good anti-fouling performance against chlorophyll milk yogurt.

Liquid infused porous surfaces for mineral fouling mitigation.

Prevention of mineral fouling, known as scale, is a long-standing problem in a wide variety of industrial applications, such as oil production, water treatment, and many others. The build-up of inorganic scale such as calcium carbonate on surfaces and facilities is undesirable as it can result in safety risks and associated flow assurance issues. To date the overwhelming amount of research has ...

Inhibition of ice nucleation by slippery liquid-infused porous surfaces (SLIPS).

Ice repellent coatings have been studied and keenly sought after for many years, where any advances in the durability of such coatings will result in huge energy savings across many fields. Progress in creating anti-ice and anti-frost surfaces has been particularly rapid since the discovery and development of slippery, liquid infused porous surfaces (SLIPS). Here we use SLIPS-coated differentia...

Liquid-infused structured surfaces with exceptional anti-biofouling performance.

Bacteria primarily exist in robust, surface-associated communities known as biofilms, ubiquitous in both natural and anthropogenic environments. Mature biofilms resist a wide range of antimicrobial treatments and pose persistent pathogenic threats. Treatment of adherent biofilm is difficult, costly, and, in medical systems such as catheters or implants, frequently impossible. At the same time, ...

Direct observation of drops on slippery lubricant-infused surfaces.

For a liquid droplet to slide down a solid planar surface, the surface usually has to be tilted above a critical angle of approximately 10°. By contrast, droplets of nearly any liquid "slip" on lubricant-infused textured surfaces - so termed slippery surfaces - when tilted by only a few degrees. The mechanism of how the lubricant alters the static and dynamic properties of the drop remains elus...

Robust liquid-infused surfaces through patterned wettability.

Liquid-infused surfaces display advantageous properties that are normally associated with conventional gas-cushioned superhydrophobic surfaces. However, the surfaces can lose their novel properties if the infused liquid drains from the surface. We explore how drainage due to gravity or due to an external flow can be prevented through the use of chemical patterning. A small area of the overall s...
